For clergy in Ho, a reliable motorcycle or car is a blessing and a necessity. Many drive unsafe vehicles or walk many kilometres to do God’s work in Ghana. The Cathedral Missions Committee has donated $300 to a fund-raising drive that has had contributions from our diocese as well as Portsmouth in the UK and a congregation in Charlotte, North Carolina. Saturday, June 4, 7:30 p.m. The annual Country and Bluegrass Gospel Show, in support of the work of Canon Paul Jeffries at Bishop McAllister College in Uganda, will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, 780 McEvoy St., Fredericton. The line-up of entertainers features Goldrush Bluegrass Band, John Jeffries, Al Sherwood and Eileen Hanson, Copper Kettle Bluegrass Boyz, Sam and Charlene Johnston, Bubs Brown, Millen Anderson and Veronica Sparks, and Reid Merritt. Admission is $10 at the door.
Matt Allen has been a regular member of our congregation this past year and is preparing to serve God in a mission abroad with IVCF. He is self financing his salary for this mission and the Missions Committee would like to share his request for support.
“I am coming on staff with Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship. Over the past year I have been working with Inter-Varsity in Fredericton. But now I am feeling like God is calling me to an International placement with Inter-Varsity. I am looking at a placement in either Martinique or France to work with the local student groups and see how they can grow and make a larger impact on their campuses and in their countries. Right now both of those locations have less than five staff working there. So I want to partner with them and see how we can grow. Right now I am fundraising for my salary and my budget costs.
