As Belize mission team members, we are excited about our upcoming adventure next week. We look forward to working with the children on their skills such as reading and math. We also look forward to collaborating with the teachers to learn how they approach different subjects and to see what types of activities they use in class.
One clear difference between teaching in Canada and teaching in Belize is the role of religion in the schools. At St. Hilda’s Anglican School, teachers and students have a church service twice a week. We have been invited to participate, and this event will be one of our highlights of the week in Belize. The above photo shows the children of St. Hilda’s Anglican School praying before going to class. It was taken during an earlier mission.
